This atmospheric multimedia show is about memory of place and the echo voices that remain long after the Purbeck and Portland quarries and stone yards, and the seine fishing crews and mackerel on Chesil beach are gone. Experienced in words, cello and film. Audiences say that even when unconnected to Dorset, the stories seem familiar and resonate. The communities and fishing and stone industry heritages connect the past to the present and to the ecological future of our natural environment. These everyday working lives and industrial landscapes become mythical and universal as we remember them together.
Emily and Sarah share a common passion for sea and land, resulting in a haunting multitracked cello soundscape and dialogue between voice and cello.
The production was enabled through an Arts Council research & development grant and during the summer of 2025 with a residency at Sandy Hil Arts in Corfe Emily created the score in conjunction with Sarah developing her script.

About Resounding Spaces:

Sarah Acton’s portfolio as writer and performer includes spoken word performance, consulting and facilitating in oral history, heritage and arts projects. Sarah’s passion for stone binds her in deep connection with the places and histories she encounters, expanding traditions of orality and storytelling to celebrate local voices as a tool for everyday myth and empowerment in post-industrial landscapes.

Emily Burridge is a virtuoso cellist, composer, producer, and soundscape artist, also renowned for incorporating looping technology to create multi-layered, organic cello soundscapes on stage. Her productions often draw inspiration from the natural landscape, a theme she has explored since the early 1990s. She has an extensive background as a session musician and arranger, and has released multiple albums both solo and collaborative as well as her music being used for film and documentaries.

Adrian Cooper is a film-maker, producing and directing work for Channel 4, BBC Films and the BFI. He is also the executive director of the arts and environmental charity Common Ground, for which he conceived and coproduced ARCADIA BFI (2017). Alongside this, he is editorial director and co-founder of Little Toller Books, a library of classic books on landscape, place and natural history plus new and debut nature writing.

This exhibition brings together recent works by artist and writer Peter Ursem. Working in a modern Romantic tradition, Peter’s visual work originates from observation, often but not exclusively of the landscape. Why do some places speak to us and awaken feelings of longing or belonging? Heart is a crucial station on the journey from Eye to Hand.

Heartfelt and funny, the film follows three sisters who return to their childhood home for a momentous weekend: the third wedding of their twice-widowed mother, Diana Frost (Kristin Scott Thomas).

The three daughters are from vastly different walks of life: Katherine (Scarlett Johansson) is a Captain in the Royal Navy; Victoria (Sienna Miller) is a Hollywood star; and Georgina (Emily Beecham) is a hospice nurse. Over the weekend, the family gathers to celebrate the new marriage, but mother and daughters alike are forced to revisit the past and confront the future, all with help from a colorful group of unexpected wedding guests.

A minor accident provokes escalating consequences. A defiant rebuke of authoritarianism, this film still entertains as a gripping thriller. Shot in secret in Iran, it follows a group of former political detainees who accidentally capture their former torturer. Acclaimed for its powerful subject matter and the circumstances of its creation, a masterful blend of dark comedy, moral complexity and suspense.

He has worked with Steven Berkoff, performed a leading role in London’s West End in The Fifteen Streets as well as many of the regional theatres in the UK. Internationally Nigel has performed in the USA and all over Europe and Asia.in over 100 plays. Founder member of The Cherub Theatre and Medieval Players Theatre companies, first performing in Edinburgh at the Fringe in The Two Noble Kinsmen in 1979. .Well known on TV for his appearance in ‘Dr Who’. Grange Hill, as well as many of the UK’s popular programmes. Together with his Fringe Management partner Michael Blaha they produced the first Pantomime in Los Angeles starring Zsa Zsa Gabor in 1993. Last seen in Doha as Sherlock Holmes The Last Act which has since being touring the UK and will be part of the Cunard programme in 2026 on The Queen Mary 2.

Simon Eeles pottery is an exquisite blend of traditional techniques and vibrant Raku ceramics. The paintings of Laurence Belbin show his obsession for the West Country landscape. Rolling hills and patchwork fields ar manipulated to create the sensation of steep valleys and coombes which typify the landscape in which he works. Both fired up by colour, together they have worked to make this an exhibition of colourful line and design. Each in their differing mediums but with the common theme of colour and passion producing individual works of art. Between them they have at least 99 years experience.

The variety of banjos that join him on stage are all characters and played important roles in his journey.

This is more than a show, it’s a cause. Keith has never accepted any form of remuneration for his performances, instead choosing to donate it to local charities and to Theatres in support of Artist development. As of June 2026 we have raised over $1.3 Million Dollars (CAD) for these causes.
