Though I have been, my life, an artist I started painting finished landscapes ten years ago. Starting in Watercolour, I moved to Oil after five years and have enjoyed developing in them, occasionally with reference to much loved Dutch Landscapes. In the last year or two I have added some still lifes of collected artefacts and other oddments. This Exhibition will hold some favourite paintings of the last ten years and one or two new ones after my latest fashion.
Over fifteen years I have explored different types of pottery including terracotta, porcelain and earthenware. I concentrate on form, using anything that has an interesting pattern and texture, such as fossils, leaves, bark and flowers. Much of my work involves melted glass, which produces a jewel-like colouration, and I also favour raku-firing, which gives the glaze a wonderful variety of colours against a matt-black background.
